The magic atmosphere, that involves the tourists today, is the same that enchanted the Portuguese in 1500, in their first contacts with the land and its inhabitants, the Tupi indians of the Pataxó tribe in the river mouth. Beaches, bays, coves, countless rivers and streams, stand out in the landscape outlined by the green of the coconut palm woods and the Atlantic Forest. Relaxing is mandatory; and nothing better than calm sea and the beaches protected by coral reefs: Itacimirim, Mutá, Mundaí, and Taperapuã, which presents sports courts and leisure equipments; and, still in the north coast, there are other beaches of all kinds, desert or overcrowded. Everyday, sailboats leave the pier downtown to Recife de Fora, a coral structure that forms swimming pools of crystal waters in the low tide. With almost 500 years of existence, most of Porto Seguro remains still untouched, with an exuberant flora and beautiful coast with clear and warm waters, preserved from pollution. This care with the environment has been a major concern of the entrepreneurs in the tourism business that have settled in Porto Seguro, and they created an infrastructure of lodgings and leisure, able to receive tourists from everywhere with high quality services in comfortable hotels, resorts and luxury lodgings, without, however, interfering in the ecosystem……..
